All aboard! Demonstration inside historic Interurban trolley in the books

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Lynnwood City Historian Cheri Ryan and her brother Kevin Stadler presented the history of the Seattle-Everett Interurban Railway aboard trolley car No. 55 on Saturday. Their presentation, titled “Before Light Rail; the Seattle-Everett Interurban Story, 1910-1939,” is part of the Alderwood Manor Heritage Association's ongoing series of historic events. The railway operated a 30-mile trolley line from Seattle to Everett between 1910 and 1939, showcasing an important era in local transit history. Ryan noted this was the first time the presentation occurred on the trolley itself, enhancing the historical experience for attendees.

The association is preparing for another event, History and Heritage Day, scheduled for July 12 from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. , featuring open trolley tours throughout the day.

This event is free and open to the public, with more information available on the association's website. Earlier this year, the heritage association received the Malstrom Award for a video series on the trolley, produced in partnership with the City of Lynnwood’s History and Heritage Board. Residents can learn more about Lynnwood's history at the Heritage Cottage and Museum, which operates three days a week.
