Lynnwood Event Center celebrates 20th anniversary, unveils new exhibit
The Lynnwood Event Center celebrated its 20th anniversary with about 50 attendees, including city officials and Public Facilities District (PFD) board members. The event unveiled a new timeline exhibit that illustrates the historical changes in the area since the early 1900s. Mayor Christine Frizzell noted that the center has generated over $200 million in economic benefits for Lynnwood. Board member Wally Webster shared his personal journey from confusion about the center's purpose to actively shaping its future. He is involved in the master planning process aimed at transforming the 13-acre property into a vibrant part of Lynnwood City Center.
Rosario Reyes emphasized the importance of diversity on the board and the potential for housing development to address community needs. The event highlights the center's longstanding role as a public gathering place, a topic of discussion in the city since the 1980s. This anniversary not only celebrates the facility's history but also looks forward to future developments that will enhance community engagement and inclusivity.
