Gesa Credit Union announces grand opening of student-run Lynnwood High School branch

Gesa Credit Union opened its first High School Credit Union (HSCU) branch in the Edmonds School District at Lynnwood High School. This marks Gesa's 18th student-run branch statewide, providing students with direct access to financial services. The initiative allows students to learn about money management, customer service, and leadership skills. Mark Madison, director of Career and Technical Education, emphasized the program's role in enhancing students' career readiness. A student will be selected for a paid internship to manage the branch operations starting in the 2025-2026 school year.

Additionally, the Lynnwood High School Affinity Card supports fundraising for academic and extracurricular programs. Gesa's HSCU program has been providing financial industry experience since 2000 and became the first Financial Sector Career Launch endorsed program in Washington state in 2022. This launch is a significant step in promoting financial literacy and community engagement among students.
