Lynnwood council to talk cannabis, public service and Day of Prayer at April 28 meeting

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The Lynnwood city council plans to deliberate on repealing its ban on retail cannabis sales during a meeting on April 28. This discussion follows a previous unsuccessful attempt in 2021 when Councilmember George Hurst sought to lift the ban, which has been in place since cannabis was legalized in Washington in 2012. The council will also confirm Jody Nummer's appointment to the History and Heritage Board and vote on two ordinances: one for minor typographical changes to a Development and Business Services policy and another for a new Commute Trip Reduction Plan required by the state every four years. This plan mandates that large employers in Lynnwood offer public transportation options to decrease single-driver vehicle trips. The meeting will open with proclamations recognizing National Day of Prayer on May 5 and Public Service Recognition Week from May 4-10.

An executive session is scheduled to discuss potential litigation. The council's decisions could significantly impact local cannabis sales and transportation policy in Lynnwood.
