Pickleball Kingdom opened on April 26, 2025, in Lynnwood, providing a dedicated space for pickleball players. The facility, previously a Bed Bath & Beyond store, spans 37,000 square feet and includes 12 courts, a community room, and a dink wall for practice. Mayor Christine Frizzell, who played a game with Mara Hylton during the opening, emphasized the importance of the venue for community engagement. The facility features an instant-replay function, allowing players to review their matches, and offers free beginner lessons twice daily. Mara Hylton mentioned that the venue aims to cultivate a robust pickleball community through accessible coaching and equipment.

The sport has gained traction across the United States, with 4,000 new courts added in 2024 alone. The popularity of pickleball has notably increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly among individuals over 50, due to its low-impact nature. Washington state officially recognized pickleball as the state sport in 2022, further solidifying its cultural significance.
