Kim, a Snohomish County resident, experienced significant medical and financial challenges after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and a gastrointestinal condition. The Prescription Drug Assistance Foundation (PDAF), led by coordinator Rod Shutt, provided crucial support, helping her save over $50,000 on medications. PDAF serves low- and moderate-income individuals in Washington, ensuring they can access essential prescriptions without facing financial hardship. Since January 2024, PDAF has assisted 59 residents in Verdant’s service area, securing over $1. 7 million in medications, many costing over $10,000 monthly.

Kim praised Shutt and PDAF, stating their assistance was life-saving and alleviated her fear of losing her home. Shutt highlighted the rewarding nature of his work, emphasizing the importance of helping individuals navigate financial barriers to their medications. He encourages anyone facing difficulties to contact him for support.
