Edmonds Rotary Daybreakers donate 4,500 for MTHS Jazz trip to Essentially Ellington

The Edmonds Rotary Daybreakers Club donated $4,500 to support Mountlake Terrace High School Jazz 1’s trip to the Essentially Ellington Competition in New York. Band Director Darin Faul spoke at the meeting, emphasizing the competition's prestige and the school's ten-time acceptance. He referred to the event as the "Super Bowl of high school jazz," highlighting its significance for student musicians. The funds will assist students with financial needs, ensuring everyone can participate. The meeting featured a performance by the Mountlake Terrace High School Jazz Quartet, which included seniors Justin Ho, Ethan Holt, Mya Phin, and sophomore Luca Manzo.

Furthermore, the meeting promoted the upcoming 25th annual Edmonds Jazz Connection event scheduled for May 17. Tam Osborne from the Edmonds School District attended, showing support for the school's jazz program and the competition. This donation reflects the community's commitment to enriching local arts education and providing opportunities for young musicians.
