Kamal Nand, who lived from June 16, 1944, to April 5, 2025, was a cherished teacher and father, born in Tavua, Fiji. His father served as the Superintendent of Education, inspiring Kamal's own academic pursuits. Known for his adventurous spirit, he excelled in sports and academics, eventually studying at the University of Otago in New Zealand. After returning to Fiji as a chemistry teacher, he immigrated to the United States in 1979, where he continued his teaching career in Louisiana and Seattle. Nand's entrepreneurial spirit led him to own multiple gas stations and a grocery store, while his dedication to family shone through in his love for weekend cartoon sessions with his daughters.

He was also an avid athlete, participating in tennis and golf throughout his life. Kamal's life story is a testament to resilience, passion, and the importance of family, and he will be honored at a memorial service on April 9, 2025. His legacy continues to inspire those who knew him, showcasing the profound impact one individual can have on their community.
