Sound Transit warns light rail riders of service disruptions April 14-23

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Sound Transit has alerted passengers to expect significant disruptions to the 1 Line light rail service from April 14 to April 23, necessitated by urgent rail repair work in the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel. The closure of the southbound track between Westlake and Stadium stations will require travel adjustments, including two transfers for many riders. Shuttle trains will operate on the northbound track every 25-30 minutes, while regular services from Lynnwood and Angle Lake to downtown will continue at approximately 12-minute intervals. To mitigate the impact, passengers are advised to explore alternative transportation options, particularly local bus services for journeys between the affected stations. King County Metro is stepping in with a downtown circulator bus during weekday evenings to ease crowding.

The construction work will involve the use of loud fans and equipment, which may be noticeable to passengers. Additionally, staff ambassadors will be on hand at stations to support riders in navigating the changes. For those needing language assistance, a translation service is available at 800-823-9230.
