Lynnwood Rotary Club announces March Career Technical Education Student of Month

Terina Papatu, a senior at Mountlake Terrace High School, has been honored as the Lynnwood Rotary Club's CTE Student of the Month for March 2025. Nominated by her journalism advisor, Vincent DeMiero, Papatu's dedication to her craft has made her a standout student in the school's journalism program for four years. Her selection to represent Washington at the Free Spirit Conference in Washington, D. C. , underscores her potential and commitment to media excellence.

Notably, she earned two top 10 national nominations in the National Student Press Association Editorial Leadership Best of Show competition, showcasing her editorial skills. Papatu made history as the first Pacific Islander and person of Samoan descent to serve as editor-in-chief of The Hawkeye and TheHawkeye. org. In addition to her journalism endeavors, she interned with the My Neighborhood News Network, further enhancing her communication skills. The Lynnwood Rotary Club's recognition of her achievements highlights the vital role of Career and Technical Education programs in equipping students for college and career readiness.
