Applications for state e-bike rebates now open

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has officially launched its WE-Bike program, allowing residents to apply for e-bike rebates aimed at promoting active transportation. With a budget exceeding $4 million, the program intends to provide around 10,000 instant rebates, which vary from $300 to $1,200 based on income eligibility. This initiative, part of the 2023-25 transportation budget funded by the Climate Commitment Act, seeks to alleviate the financial burden associated with purchasing e-bikes and eligible accessories. The application process is open until noon on April 23, and the program's website is available in both English and Spanish, ensuring accessibility for a diverse audience. Beyond the rebate application, the website also includes essential resources regarding e-bike safety and maintenance, making it a comprehensive tool for all users.

Adele Peers, the program manager, highlighted the excitement surrounding the initiative and the ease of the application process. Additionally, customer service agents are on hand to assist those needing help with their applications. This program underscores Washington's commitment to sustainable transportation solutions and community engagement.
