American Legion, VFW posts collecting food, personal hygiene items for veterans April 19

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Edmonds American Legion Post 66 and VFW Post 8870 are set to host a donation drive on April 19 at the Wilcox Construction Red Barn from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. This event aims to collect food and personal hygiene items specifically for veterans in need, addressing the challenges faced by many in Snohomish County.

Typical hygiene items sought include deodorant, toothbrushes, and sanitary products, while food donations will support local food banks. Both post commanders, Dan Mullene and Duane Bowman, emphasized the importance of community involvement, noting the remarkable support seen in past drives. With over 50,000 veterans in the county, the need for assistance remains significant, particularly during the spring months. Last year's event yielded substantial contributions, reinforcing the community's commitment to its veterans. Additionally, attendees can donate worn American flags for respectful disposal.

The posts will facilitate cash and card donations, making it easier for community members to contribute.
