The Edmonds School District is set to host a crucial EKG youth heart screening event on April 2, in collaboration with the Nick of Time Foundation and the University of Washington Center for Sports Cardiology. Scheduled from 8 a. m. to 3 p. m.

at Lynnwood High School Gymnasium, the event invites all youths aged 12-24, regardless of school affiliation, to participate. Preregistration is necessary, as no walk-ins will be accepted, highlighting the importance of organized health initiatives. Participants will undergo a comprehensive and confidential screening process that includes a heart health survey to identify risk factors, a painless EKG test to record heart activity, and an on-site medical review by specialized doctors. Some attendees may even receive an echocardiogram if required, further ensuring thorough evaluation. Additionally, all participants will receive hands-on CPR and AED training, essential skills that can save lives.

This initiative addresses the alarming reality of Sudden Cardiac Arrest, a leading cause of death among young athletes, by promoting early detection and intervention. The event underscores a community commitment to youth health and safety, making it a pivotal opportunity for parents and guardians to prioritize their children's heart health.
