Snohomish County Elections providing in-person and virtual candidate workshops

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Snohomish County Elections is facilitating four candidate workshops in April to empower individuals interested in running for local office in the upcoming 2025 elections. These workshops will cover vital topics such as candidate filing requirements, key deadlines, and guidelines for submitting statements to the Local Voters’ Pamphlet. With a significant number of local offices—over 180—up for election, the candidate filing week will run from May 5 to May 9, with online filing highly encouraged. Additionally, a campaign finance seminar, presented by the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission, will take place on April 26 to inform candidates about financial disclosure obligations. Snohomish County Auditor Garth Fell stated that the workshops aim to make the filing process more accessible and less daunting, especially for first-time candidates.

Three workshops will be conducted in person, while one will be held virtually on Zoom, allowing for broader participation. Registration is recommended but not required, and a recording of the virtual workshop will be available afterward. Additional resources, including the 2025 Candidate Guide, can be found on the Snohomish County Elections website.
