Ramadan celebrated at Edmonds Waterfront Center

Around 80 participants gathered at the Edmonds Waterfront Center to celebrate Ramadan and Nowruz, showcasing the rich cultural diversity of the community. The event was organized by the House of Wisdom, a nonprofit dedicated to providing tutoring for disadvantaged students. Attendees enjoyed cultural food and presentations that highlighted the significance of both celebrations. Ahmad Hilal Abid, the founder of the House of Wisdom, expressed that the event's goal was to foster unity among community members. Teresa Wippel, founder of the My Neighborhood News Network, spoke about the bonding that occurs when diverse backgrounds come together.

The House of Wisdom has notably expanded its reach, serving many first-generation refugees and immigrants. Ramadan is a period of fasting and spiritual growth for Muslims, while Nowruz marks the arrival of spring and renewal. Both celebrations emphasize the importance of community and shared traditions, reinforcing the mission of the House of Wisdom.
