Staff, teachers celebrated for outstanding work and dedication at March 25 school board meeting

The Edmonds School District held a school board meeting on March 25 to honor teachers and staff for their exceptional dedication to student support. Among the notable achievements, three teachers from Mountlake Terrace High School—Jennifer Widrig-Hodges, Lavon Driscoll, and Denise Tripp—were celebrated for obtaining National Board Certification, a significant milestone in K-12 education. The board also recognized 15 members of the All Edmonds Educational Support Team, who were nominated for their outstanding contributions by students and parents. Following these celebrations, Meadowdale High School Principal Kim Whitworth presented on the school's improvement plan, which aims to boost graduation rates. Currently, the overall graduation rate stands at 86.

9%, with a goal to reach 90% by 2025. Notably, the school aims to address disparities among multilingual students, setting a target to increase their graduation rate from 67. 2% to 80% within the same timeframe. Whitworth emphasized the importance of clear learning targets and cohesive teaching practices to support all students. This meeting underscored the district's commitment to educational excellence and inclusivity.
