Overnight lane reductions and ramp closures March 12, 13 will affect people using I-5 through Seattle

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Significant overnight closures on Interstate 5 will impact travelers near downtown Seattle on March 12 and 13. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has announced that northbound I-5 will be reduced to two lanes from 9 p. m. to 5 a. m.

between Harvard Avenue East and Northeast 45th Street, with the Harvard Avenue East on-ramp closed as well. In the southbound direction, the right lane will close just south of the Lake Washington Ship Canal Bridge during the same hours, along with the closure of the Boylston Avenue East off-ramp. These closures are crucial for maintenance work, paving the way for the I-5/Yesler Way to Northgate Vicinity project, part of the broader Revive I-5 initiative. Additionally, both the northbound I-5 off-ramp to Mercer Street and the eastbound Mercer on-ramp to southbound I-5 will be closed for essential tunnel maintenance. To navigate these changes, WSDOT encourages travelers to utilize their mobile app for real-time updates and detour information.

Staying informed about these developments is vital for minimizing delays and ensuring smooth travel. As construction progresses, these measures aim to enhance the infrastructure of this key transportation corridor.
