Francis “Frank” DeMiero, a dedicated music educator, passed away on February 19, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving a profound legacy in music education. Born in McKeesport, PA, and raised in Belfair, WA, Frank's life was anchored in family, music, and the belief in every student's potential. Over his 60-year career, he established numerous influential music programs, including the nationally recognized Soundsation jazz choir and the DeMiero Jazz Festival. His tenure as Music Supervisor for the Edmonds School District was marked by the creation of one of the most acclaimed music education programs in the country. Frank's innovative teaching methods were the subject of a foundational study by Bastyr University, emphasizing his ability to inspire creativity and collaboration among students.

Additionally, he founded community music groups such as the Seattle Jazz Singers and the Sno-King Community Chorale, fostering a love for music in the community. His legacy continues to resonate, affecting countless musicians and educators. Frank's commitment to music and education will be remembered and celebrated for generations to come.

Hurst garnered 4,313 votes (51.22%) against incumbent Christine Frizzell in the mayoral race, while Escamilla led City Council Position 1 with 4,927 votes (59.79%). Voter turnout in Lynnwood reached 36.44%.
