Cedar Way Elementary students are preparing for their highly anticipated debut performance of Disney’s 101 Dalmatians KIDS at Mountlake Terrace High School, with shows scheduled for February 21 and 22. The production features a total of 73 young actors, including 51 main cast members from grades 4-5 and 22 younger students from grades K-2 in the opening act. This initiative, supported by a grant from Disney through the Seattle Theater Group, aims to promote accessibility to the arts, particularly for families facing economic challenges. Theater Manager Vincent Orduna emphasized the importance of safety with specific stage conduct rules, ensuring a professional environment for the young performers. Led by PTO President Kelcie Trine, the Cedar Way Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization successfully secured funding and resources, enabling the production to flourish.

The students have been rehearsing since October 2024, meeting twice a week, which has allowed them to form strong connections across different grade levels. Trine noted the special bond created among the students, many of whom are new to theater. This performance not only showcases their hard work and talent but also highlights the importance of community support in fostering artistic opportunities for all students.
