Lynnwood, WALocal News

The Mountlake Terrace Hawks and Meadowdale Mavericks faced elimination in the District 1 3A boys basketball tournament, marking the end of their 2024-2025 seasons. The Hawks struggled with cold shooting, managing only four points in the first quarter and a total of 13 in the first half, ultimately losing to the Snohomish Panthers 49-43. Senior Bryson Wheat emerged as a standout player for the Panthers, scoring 24 points and thwarting any potential comeback attempts by the Hawks. The Mavericks, who averaged over 54 points per game this season, also fell short, losing 59-44 to the Ferndale Golden Eagles. Coaches from both teams expressed disappointment but emphasized the importance of learning from these experiences.

Mountlake Terrace's coach highlighted the growth of his young team, which faced challenges after graduating seven seniors from the previous season. Despite the losses, both teams are expected to reflect on the season's lessons and prepare for future competitions. The focus now turns to the development of the players as they look ahead.
