Seattle's Pier 70, home to MTV's 'The Real World,' sold for 11M

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The iconic Pier 70 in Seattle, famously featured in MTV's "The Real World" Season 7, has been sold for $11 million to Landmark Event Co. This sale marks a significant increase from its original purchase price of $276,316 in 1995. The property consists of two parcels, with one containing the pier itself, which includes office spaces and restaurants, while the second parcel is located along the waterfront. Built in 1902, Pier 70 has undergone numerous transformations, evolving from a port to a vibrant commercial hub, particularly after its renovations in 1999. Despite King County's valuation of the combined parcels at over $37 million in 2024, the sale price indicates market conditions with notable leasing vacancies, as the site is currently only 36% leased.

The sale opens up new leasing potential for the new owner, who now holds a property that holds nostalgic value for fans of the reality show. The pier's role in "The Real World" continues to be an integral part of its identity, as it was home to seven castmates navigating their lives together. This sale not only reflects the changing landscape of Seattle's waterfront but also highlights the ongoing significance of Pier 70 in popular culture.
