The 18th annual Edmonds Polar Bear Plunge took place on January 1, 2025, attracting over 1,000 participants who braved the icy waters of Puget Sound to welcome the new year. Dressed in vibrant bathrobes and carrying Rainier beers, the plungers paraded down Main Street from Daphne’s Bar to Brackett’s Landing beach, led by retired librarian Edith Farrar and local musicians playing lively tunes. Local musician Eric Dubbury remarked on the event's role in fostering community ties, allowing neighbors to enjoy drinks and share experiences.
