Snohomish County prepares for Point-in-Time Count Jan. 23

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Snohomish County is gearing up for its annual Point-in-Time Count, scheduled for January 23, 2025, to evaluate the extent of homelessness within the community. Organized by the Human Services Department in collaboration with local service providers, the initiative will categorize the county into four quadrants to ensure thorough coverage of individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Following the PIT Count, service-based counts will continue until January 29 to assess those receiving assistance from local organizations. This data collection is crucial for securing federal and state funding aimed at addressing homelessness and understanding its scope in the region. Last year, the count identified 1,161 homeless individuals, reflecting a 9.

6% decrease from the previous year, highlighting both the progress made and the ongoing challenges. The Human Services Department emphasizes that while strides have been made since the PIT Count’s inception in 2006, sustainable solutions are still needed for those at risk of homelessness. Community members interested in participating can reach out through the provided contact information. This collaborative effort underscores the community's commitment to tackling homelessness and providing support for vulnerable individuals.
