A standoff on Christmas morning led to the arrest of a man in Everett, Washington, who allegedly set fire to his family's home. The incident began when the suspect's mother called police for a mental health evaluation following a destructive Christmas Eve. Upon arrival, officers encountered resistance from the suspect, who made threatening statements about not wanting to go to jail due to an existing warrant. As smoke filled the house, officers had to evacuate and later discovered a fire in the stepfather's room. The situation escalated, with the man fleeing to the roof and resisting rescue attempts.

He was ultimately taken into custody after jumping down. He faces serious charges, including first-degree arson categorized as domestic violence and resisting arrest. This alarming incident highlights the potential dangers of mental health crises.
