4 local players named to All-State prep volleyball teams

The Washington State Volleyball Coaches Association has unveiled its All-State Volleyball Teams, celebrating the achievements of outstanding players and coaches across various classifications. In Class 4A, Curtis High School's Avery Cukjati was honored as Player of the Year, and her coach, Liz Quitiquit, received the Co-Coach of the Year accolade alongside Taylor Bautista. Laura Eichert from Lake Stevens earned a first-team selection, highlighting her contributions to the sport. The first team features a mix of experienced seniors and promising underclassmen, reflecting the competitive nature of high school volleyball in the region. This recognition not only honors the athletes but also aims to inspire future generations to pursue excellence in sports, fostering community pride and support for high school volleyball in Washington.

Lynnwood candidates George Hurst, Derica Escamilla, Isabel Mata, Bryce Owings, and Robert Leutwyler maintained their leads in updated election returns. Hurst garnered 4,313 votes (51.22%) against incumbent Christine Frizzell in the mayoral race, while Escamilla led City Council Position 1 with 4,927 votes (59.79%). Voter turnout in Lynnwood reached 36.44%.
