Lynnwood, WALocal News

Tessa Anastasi, a junior goalkeeper for the Lake Stevens High School girls soccer team, has earned The Herald’s 2024 Girls Soccer Player of the Year title following an outstanding season. Starting since her freshman year, Anastasi achieved 13 shutouts, including three during the Class 4A state tournament, which were vital in leading the Vikings to their inaugural state championship. Her evolution from a shy freshman to a commanding player is largely due to her goalie coach, Laura Lovett's support. Anastasi expressed her excitement about playing such a crucial role and the necessity of confidence and focus. The Vikings finished the season with a remarkable 19-1-2 record, underscoring Anastasi's contributions.

Coach Sam Ford praised her as the best goalkeeper in the state. As the Vikings prepare to defend their title next season, Anastasi is dedicated to further improvement and embracing future challenges.
