Escamilla Appointed to Fill Council Vacancy

Almaderica “Derica” Escamilla has officially been appointed to the Lynnwood City Council to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Council Member Shirley Sutton in May 2024. The City Council conducted interviews with their top candidates over two special meetings leading up to the decision made on July 10, 2024. Following the vote, Escamilla is set to take her Oath of Office during the Work Session on July 15, 2024, where she will be immediately seated. The City plans to release a formal announcement next week that will provide more information about Escamilla, including her biography and a quote from her. The appointment is significant for the local government as it ensures continuity and representation in the Council.
