The Governor's Committee on Disability Issues & Employment is calling for nominations for its annual Employer Awards, which recognize the contributions of Washington employers who actively recruit, hire, and advance workers with disabilities. This prestigious awards program is open to organizations across various sectors, including public, private, and nonprofit entities, and aims to highlight the importance of disability inclusion in the workforce. Additionally, there are individual awards recognizing professionals who have made significant impacts in the field of disability support and advocacy. The specific awards include the Direct Support Professional Award, the Governor's Trophy in Memory of Carolyn Blair Brown, and the Toby Olson Lifetime Achievement Award, each honoring different aspects of disability advocacy. Nominations are due by July 31, and detailed information, including forms, can be found on the committee's dedicated website.

Interested individuals can also contact the committee for additional guidance through email or phone. This initiative not only aims to celebrate achievements but also to encourage more employers to prioritize diversity and inclusion in their hiring practices, ultimately creating a more equitable workforce that values the contributions of individuals with disabilities.
