** After tumultuous year, Molbak’s is being demolished in Woodinville

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The demolition of Molbak's Garden + Home, a beloved garden store in Woodinville, Washington, signifies the end of an important chapter in the community's history. After its closure in January 2024, the store became a symbol of local creativity and connection, having served residents since its founding in 1956. Despite efforts by a former employee to designate the site as a historic landmark, the demolition process moved swiftly, with permits approved just days before the application was submitted. Green Partners, which acquired the property in 2008, has plans for redevelopment into a housing, shopping, and entertainment area, although these plans have faced delays due to rising interest rates and construction costs. A fundraising initiative launched in April to revive the space as the Green Phoenix Collaborative fell significantly short of its $2.

5 million goal, raising just over $100,000. Community members have expressed their heartbreak over the loss of such an iconic establishment, which served as a gathering place for creativity and connection. As Woodinville looks to the future, the impact of Molbak's Garden + Home will resonate within the community for years to come.
