As Link nears in Lynnwood, Community Transit looks to drop commuter fare

Community Transit is planning to eliminate its $4. 25 commuter bus fare as part of a major route overhaul in anticipation of the new light rail service launching on August 30 in Lynnwood. The agency's Transit Changes in 2024 and Beyond plan aims to streamline operations by discontinuing certain routes to downtown Seattle and Northgate, making the premium fare unnecessary. Regular bus fares will remain at $2. 50, with reduced fares at $1.

50 and free rides for teenagers and younger. CEO Ric Ilgenfritz highlighted the need to align transit services with the light rail to enhance local connectivity and accessibility. A public hearing is set for May 2 to gather community feedback on the proposed fare changes.
