Sound Transit to keep some Snohomish County bus routes

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Sound Transit is set to launch a temporary bus line, Route 515, connecting Lynnwood City Center to downtown Seattle, aimed at alleviating potential overcrowding on the new Link light rail extension. This express service will operate until the east side Link, referred to as the 2 Line, crosses Lake Washington, expected by 2025. The initiative is part of Sound Transit’s strategy to manage expected daily ridership of 47,000 to 55,000 by 2026. Mayor Christine Frizzell emphasized the importance of collaboration between Sound Transit, Community Transit, and King County Metro in effectively addressing community concerns. Additionally, existing bus routes 510, 512, and 513 will see adjustments, with routes 512 and 513 being shortened to enhance operational efficiency.

These changes will officially take effect on August 30, coinciding with the opening of the Lynnwood light rail extension. Sound Transit also plans to introduce a flat $3 fare for Link trips, simplifying the fare structure for commuters. These enhancements reflect a commitment to improving public transportation accessibility and reliability in the Lynnwood area.
