Lynnwood roommates sentenced for roles in Jan. 6 riot

Lynnwood, WALocal News

On Thursday, Tucker Weston from Lynnwood was sentenced to two years in prison for his significant involvement in the January 6 Capitol riot, including assaults on police officers. Weston traveled to Washington, D. C. , with his roommate Jesse Watson to attend the 'Stop the Steal' rally, motivated by unfounded claims about the 2020 election. In July 2023, Weston pleaded guilty to assaulting a federal officer and civil disorder, later minimizing his actions during an FBI interview, where he described the atmosphere of the riot as 'enjoyable and comical.

' U. S. Attorney Matthew Graves noted that while Weston was not the most violent participant, he was among the most active, helping to remove barricades, confronting police, and entering the Capitol through a broken window. Watson, facing lesser charges, received three years of probation for actions like placing a Trump banner. This sentencing highlights the ongoing repercussions of the Capitol events, with over 1,424 individuals charged related to the breach, and around 884 already sentenced.

This case reflects the significant legal and social ramifications stemming from the riot, illustrating its impact on individuals and the nation.
