Snohomish County is preparing to connect with Sound Transit’s Link light rail service, marking a significant advancement in local transportation. A grand opening celebration is set for August 30, starting at 4 p. m. , with festivities at all four new stations in Shoreline, Mountlake Terrace, and Lynnwood. The Lynnwood Chamber of Commerce anticipates around 30,000 riders on the first day, indicating strong demand for this service.

The event will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a. m. , following simulated train operations that began on July 8. County Executive Dave Somers highlighted the importance of this project in improving transportation options for residents. The extension spans 8.

5 miles and includes two stops in Shoreline, one in Mountlake Terrace, and one in Lynnwood, marking the first light rail stations in Snohomish County.
