Ousted Marysville superintendent to get over $400K in severance

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Marysville School District's former superintendent, Zachary Robbins, will receive a severance package totaling more than $400,000 following his recent dismissal amid ongoing financial turmoil in the district. The agreement stipulates $29,150 per month until October 2025, along with health, dental, and vision insurance for him and his family. Additionally, a $50,000 lump sum will assist with moving expenses, job search travel, and legal fees. This decision comes as the district grapples with financial struggles, including two failed levy lifts and a state audit resulting in increased oversight. The district is currently under enhanced financial monitoring, with a special administrator overseeing its finances.

The school district's spokesperson emphasized the commitment to a smooth transition while wishing Robbins well in his future endeavors. The severance agreement also includes provisions for legal defense and attorney fees in case Robbins faces lawsuits related to his tenure.
