School District seeks name suggestions for new middle school

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The Edmonds School District is calling for name suggestions for a new middle school at the former Alderwood Middle School location in Lynnwood. Community members have until November 24 to submit their ideas, after which a committee will recommend three to five names to the school board. Construction is projected to commence in summer 2026 and conclude by fall 2028. Names must adhere to District guidelines, highlighting geographic relevance and community significance while avoiding similarities to existing school names. The recently annexed property borders Alderwood Mall Parkway and Heritage Park, enhancing its community ties.

Historically, the site was part of a demonstration farm established by the Puget Mill Company in 1917, which taught settlers agricultural practices. The naming initiative engages local residents, fostering a sense of ownership and connection to the new school. This development reflects the district's commitment to community involvement in educational projects.
