Rainy, gusty week to come in Snohomish County

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Snohomish County is bracing for a week of wet and windy weather, with forecasts indicating significant rainfall and potential thunderstorms. Rainfall could reach up to three-quarters of an inch on Tuesday, with additional rain expected throughout the week. The Snohomish River is projected to exceed the 'action' flooding stage of 20 feet, but experts believe that reaching the minor flood stage of 25 feet is unlikely. Meteorologist Jeff Michalski from the National Weather Service warns of gusty winds, particularly on Tuesday night, potentially reaching 45 miles per hour. Residents should remain alert for river flooding, especially as runoff from the Cascades and Olympics may contribute to rising water levels.

With King Tide season on the horizon, high tides could further complicate flooding risks in low-lying areas. The community is encouraged to stay informed and prepared for changing weather conditions.
