Community Transits ride-hailing service expanding to 3 new cities

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Community Transit is expanding its Zip Shuttle ride-hailing service to Arlington, Lake Stevens, and Darrington, enhancing local transportation options for residents. Since its launch near Alderwood Mall in 2022, the service has allowed riders to travel for the same fare as a bus, $2. 50, to any destination within the designated area. Designed to accommodate multiple passengers, it provides a cost-effective choice for many. Residents can sign up for updates about the upcoming service until October 18, and those who do will receive a complimentary ORCA card.

Community Transit spokesperson Monica Spain has indicated that operational plans for the new service zones are being developed and are expected to be finalized in November. This expansion addresses transportation challenges faced by residents in outlying Snohomish County, particularly after the reorganization of bus routes due to light rail services. The service also aims to provide vital transportation for low-income individuals, seniors, and those with disabilities at a reduced fare of $1. 25, with an anticipated connection to the Swift bus rapid transit system.
