Everett man suspected of DUI in Tacoma tanker crash

Lynnwood, WALocal News

A 45-year-old man from Everett is facing DUI charges after a serious accident on a Tacoma highway interchange on Monday evening. The incident occurred around 4:29 PM when the man crashed his tanker truck into two vehicles, a Toyota Prius and a Toyota Corolla, injuring all three drivers. Eyewitnesses reported that the tanker driver lost control while approaching the intersection of Sprague Avenue and Highway 16, veering into oncoming traffic. Although the tanker was carrying argon gas, officials confirmed there was no risk to public safety. The driver of the Prius was a 35-year-old woman from Tacoma, while the Corolla was driven by a 55-year-old man from Port Orchard.

All three individuals were transported to local hospitals for medical care, and the Everett man was arrested for DUI and two counts of vehicular assault. The accident resulted in all involved vehicles being totaled, leading to a significant blockage of the roadway for four hours as cleanup crews responded. This event has raised concerns about road safety and the consequences of driving under the influence in the local community.
