Teen arrested after allegedly threatening other students

Lynnwood, WALocal News

In a concerning incident that highlights the urgent issue of school safety, a 14-year-old student from Edmonds-Woodway High School was arrested after sending a threatening Snapchat video to classmates at Meadowdale High School. The video showed the suspect brandishing what appeared to be a handgun, which was later confirmed by authorities to be an airsoft gun. The recipient of the video promptly reported it to school administrators, who took immediate action by alerting local law enforcement. This incident follows the arrest of two other students at Meadowdale last month for making firearm-related threats, indicating a troubling trend in the area. The suspect has been booked into the Denney Juvenile Justice Center in Everett and faces serious charges of harassment with threats to kill.

The increase in such threats has sparked discussions among parents and officials regarding the need for enhanced security measures in schools. As the community addresses these challenges, the safety and well-being of students remain a top priority, underscoring the importance of effective communication and intervention strategies in educational environments.
