2 injured, 11 displaced in Edmonds apartment fire

A fire erupted on Saturday afternoon at an Edmonds apartment complex, resulting in two individuals being hospitalized and 11 residents displaced. The fire occurred just before 3 p. m. in the 8800 block of 236th Street SW, prompting a swift response from over 60 firefighters. Upon arrival, responders found thick smoke pouring from the one-story complex, leading to a two-alarm response to control the situation.

Firefighters worked for nearly 40 minutes to extinguish the flames, with no injuries reported among the firefighting personnel. The two adults taken to Swedish Edmonds Hospital were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Eight units suffered damage, leaving 11 residents without shelter. The South County Fire department is investigating the cause of the fire, emphasizing the need for fire safety and prevention in residential areas.
