Economic Alliance taps former Everett mayor as CEO

Ray Stephanson, who served as the mayor of Everett from 2003 to 2017, has been appointed as the interim executive director and CEO of Economic Alliance Snohomish County, effective December 2. He is taking over from Wendy Poischbeg, who is leaving to join the newly established Greater Everett Chamber of Commerce. Expressing gratitude for the opportunity, Stephanson stated that he looks forward to leading a talented team and advancing efforts to support businesses and drive economic growth in Snohomish County. Doug Purcell, the board chair of the Economic Alliance, emphasized that Stephanson's extensive experience and community ties will enhance the organization’s role as a vital resource for local businesses and stakeholders. Stephanson’s background includes six years on Everett’s City Council and 14 years as mayor, showcasing his deep involvement in regional governance.

The Economic Alliance aims to facilitate community development while hosting events throughout the year to connect businesses with political leaders. This leadership transition represents a significant moment for the Economic Alliance as it seeks to strengthen its impact, and stakeholders are optimistic about the future direction under Stephanson's leadership.
