VOAWW launches local resource navigation amid state, federal services cuts

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Volunteers of America Western Washington (VOAWW) will launch “VOAWW Connect” on January 2, offering dedicated resource navigation services to Snohomish and Skagit Counties. This initiative arises from budget cuts that forced the regional 211 hotline to merge into a statewide call center. VOAWW ensures that individuals will receive support from the same trusted team, minimizing disruption for families in need. Director Amanda Etchey noted that maintaining local services enhances response times and community collaboration. The organization has operated North Sound 211 since 2006, helping residents access essential resources.

The new program will retain the toll-free number 1-800-223-8145 and introduce a local number, 360-VOA-HELP. This change allows community members to receive more localized support, while still benefiting from partnerships with the statewide system. The shift reflects a strategic realignment to address funding challenges while preserving vital local services.
