Public invited to comment on state transportation project priorities deadline Dec. 19

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) invites public comments on its draft 2026-2029 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) until December 19. The STIP includes over 1,100 projects utilizing $5. 3 billion in federal funds, which is necessary for the authorization of these expenditures. The program encompasses a range of projects from highways to bike lanes, reflecting input from various planning agencies. Community members can provide feedback on how these projects might affect them or their neighborhoods.

The STIP represents the culmination of a month-long review process, following the development of individual transportation improvement programs. WSDOT will pass all comments to local agencies or planning organizations for evaluation. The current STIP is updated annually, with the next draft scheduled for release in January 2026. This initiative emphasizes the importance of community engagement in shaping transportation priorities.
