Larsen secures nearly 14 million for Community Transit to fund hybrid buses

The Federal Transit Administration has awarded over $50 million in grants to four transit agencies in Northwest Washington, with Community Transit receiving $13. 99 million specifically for hybrid bus replacements. This funding stems from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, aimed at improving public transportation's environmental impact. According to U. S.

Rep. Rick Larsen, the funding will help reduce carbon emissions and maintenance costs, ensuring reliable transportation for riders. Everett Transit will receive $10. 07 million for hybrid bus replacements, while Skagit Transit gets $9. 37 million for paratransit vehicles and coaches.

Whatcom Transportation Authority will receive $16. 72 million for similar upgrades. Community Transit CEO Ric Ilgenfritz highlighted the significance of hybrid buses for regional sustainability. The financial support reflects a broader commitment to modernizing transit infrastructure and enhancing service reliability. This initiative aligns with national efforts to promote low-emission transportation solutions.
