Lynnwood, WALocal News

Northwest Civic Circle will present a special screening of "Captain Zero: Into the Abyss: Part II" on January 24 at the Edmonds Theater. The film follows a Black teenager on a mental health journey as he grapples with trauma and insecurities. Having premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival, the 15-minute animated action/drama features bold visuals and themes designed to encourage discussion. "Open discussions about mental health... are often treated as a taboo topic," remarked NWCC founder Alicia Crank.

The event will include a Q&A session with the film's producers and mental health advocates from Compass Health. This initiative seeks to address the stigma surrounding mental health, especially in communities of color. Ticketing information will be available soon. NWCC encourages partnerships with mental health professionals and organizations.
