Long-awaited 200th St SW and Hwy 99 turning lane is complete

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The turning lane from 200th Street Southwest to Highway 99 in Lynnwood is now complete after three years of delays. The Harris Ford dealership undertook the construction as part of an agreement linked to its expansion project, which involved purchasing city land at a reduced price. The city sold the land for $576,000, half of its assessed value, requiring the dealership to fund the construction of the new lane. Initially expected to be finished in 2024, the project faced setbacks due to an underground water main that required relocation. A resident reported the lane's opening last week, prompting inquiries to city officials, who have yet to respond regarding the completion timeline.

The origins of the project trace back to October 2021, when Harris Ford applied for a design review permit for a new showroom. Lynnwood Development Engineering Services Manager Charlie Palmer previously indicated that the underground water main was the primary reason for the delay. The completion of the turning lane is significant for local traffic flow and accessibility in the area.
