Prep girls soccer Warriors 2-1 win over Scots sends them to state tourney

Bella Dreitzler’s late goal led Edmonds-Woodway to a 2-1 victory over Shorecrest in the District 1 3A Girls Soccer Tournament, sending the Warriors to the state tournament for the first time since 2018. The match remained tied at 1-1 until six minutes remained in regulation when Dreitzler executed her signature bending shot after receiving a pass from Abby Peterson. Warriors’ goalkeeper Morgan Smith played a critical role, making five saves to maintain the lead in the closing minutes. Coach Kim Plumis commended Smith for her composure during the match, highlighting her impressive performance for a 14-year-old. Lily Frank opened the scoring for the Warriors with a long-range goal in the ninth minute.

The match featured intense competition, with Shorecrest applying pressure, especially in the second half. The Warriors’ defense held strong, overcoming a free-kick goal from Shorecrest. Edmonds-Woodway finished the tournament with a 2-1 record, showcasing their growth and determination.
