Sno-Isle Genealogy presents Japanese Gulch a home from time immemorial Nov. 5
The Sno-Isle Genealogical Society (SIGS) will host Dr. Alicia Valentino from Edmonds College on November 5 to discuss archaeological findings from Japanese Gulch in Mukilteo. The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p. m. with a social hour at the Wickers Building in Heritage Park, where attendees can meet SIGS members and enjoy refreshments.
Dr. Valentino's presentation will start at 7:30 p. m. , focusing on the gulch's historical significance as a site for Native American resource use and later as a home for Japanese mill workers. This community thrived for 30 years, and the archaeological work conducted in the summer of 2025 uncovered remnants of this immigrant history.
The meeting is free and designed for all, encouraging newcomers to explore their connections to history. Participants will engage in activities to spark conversation about family research. For further information, including live-stream options, attendees can check the SIGS calendar page.
