Nighttime lane closure on 220th St SW overnight Thursday

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The City of Edmonds will close westbound lanes of 220th Street Southwest from 8 p. m. on October 30 until 2 a. m. on October 31 for a geotechnical investigation.

This closure, occurring just east of the Highway 99 intersection, aims to address pavement distress that has appeared despite the road being only ten years old. Deep ruts have developed, suggesting issues beneath the surface. City spokesperson Natasha Ryan stated that the investigation is crucial to determine the root cause and to facilitate a long-lasting repair. The city plans to use the findings to develop a solution that will prevent recurring problems and improve driving safety. Delays are anticipated, and drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes during this time.

For those needing information in another language, the city provides free language assistance services. This proactive approach demonstrates the city's commitment to maintaining infrastructure quality and safety for its residents.
