Mountlake Terrace history comes to life at Lynnwood Heritage Park Oct. 25

The Lynnwood-Alderwood Manor Heritage Association invites the public to explore the history of Mountlake Terrace on Saturday, Oct. 25. Historian Randal Gravelle will present “Mountlake Terrace: A History of Four Square Miles,” detailing the city's transformation from a modest postwar housing development into a thriving urban area. The talk will emphasize the impact of returning World War II veterans in shaping a planned community aimed at providing durable and affordable homes. Gravelle will also address the rise of assembly-line housing construction as a significant factor in this transformation.

The event will be held at 10 a. m. in the Wickers Gallery at Heritage Park, located at 19921 Poplar Way, Lynnwood. This program is free, encouraging community engagement in local history. The South County cold weather shelter at Maple Park Church in Lynnwood will open on Nov. 29 as temperatures are expected to drop below 34°F. Community Transit and Everett Transit will offer no-fare transportation to the shelter, which will be open for check-in from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
